Micromax has now created much hype with its Canvas phones and the new one that is catching our attention is the Micromax Canvas Turbo. It is believed that the phone is quite similar to Canvas 4 but let’s check out that in a detailed comparison here. Both the phones have quad core processors but it is expected that the Turbo may be available with some new or better features.
Specs of Turbo and Canvas 4
The Turbo has 16GB in built storage, 2000 mAh battery and runs on Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS. The same specs can be found in Canvas 4 as well. But let’s see where these two phones differ from one another and which one is a better pick.
Display and more
Beginning with the specs of Turbo, the phone sports 5 inch full HD CGS screen, 2GB RAM and 1.5 Ghz quad core MediaTek MT6589T chipset. Also, the phone has 1080p Display but the Canvas 4 is there with full HD display and 720p resolution.
Talking about the camera, there is 13 MP rear camera as well as 5MP secondary camera in the Canvas Turbo. Apart from some added features, Turbo does nice in the camera section. The users are provided with the general range of shooting modes as well as panorama feature. A great thing about it is that you not just have the horizontal panorama but vertical as well. You further have the burst mode that gives you the option to click 99 pictures.
Adding more to these, the Turbo offers 360 degree panorama facility. The camera too gives the users the capacity to capture videos and create GIF through animating the objects. The users even get the option to erase the objects from images thereby giving them perfect clicks.
Then coming to the software features, they are similar to what we have with Canvas 4. Some useful features that the Canvas Turbo provides include the following:
- Answering calls by just placing phone on ear
- Clicking pictures by putting camera in the proximity mode and waving hand at the display to click the image
- Shake or blow to unlock the phone
- Putting the phone on silent mode during incoming call by just flipping the device upside down
- Sliding hand over the display for unlocking the phone and saving battery through switching off the display automatically using proximity sensor
- Putting the active call on speaker mode by just flipping over your phone
Similarities and differences
Both Canvas 4 and Canvas Turbo have same on board ROM i.e. 16GB but the former takes lead with the option of expanding the memory using mircoSD card slot. It is indeed a shame that the Canvas Turbo misses out on such a crucial feature.
These phones are indeed similar when we talk about software features. The Canvas Turbo can easily play tricks that the Canvas 4 pulled off at first. Turbo but adds more to them with gesture features and software tweaks.
The Canvas 4 is available for Rs 17,900 and is a value for money phone as it comes with great features at such an affordable price tag. But it is expected that the Turbo may be priced a bit more than Canvas 4, maybe at Rs 19,999 or so.
